le big pomme and a big day

it's been a while huh... well i guess i've got some 'splaining to do; i may have been traveling...again.

those of you following my funny shop via the facebook page heard that i took a wee road trip to le big pomme a couple of weeks ago. 

i hadn't been there since maybe 2001 so to go back even for a few days tickled my bum ticker pretty hard. i don't remember much of my last visit in NYC except for the huge wall of flowers, pictures and miss you letters left for the ones that were taken with the twin towers of the trade center. i've changed easily 5 times over as person since my last being there and although i have always been a shutter bug nearly my whole life, this time i had a few obsessions i could not help but to go shutter nutty on. i even took my old slr Yashika camera for some selected shots, thankfully finding my 35mm color rolls the morning we left.
my eyes kept going up an down the streets we walked through and i tried to catch everything that caught my eye. obviously being in textiles, the texture seen in such an old city like NYC made me smile loud. and for obvious reasons i was really drawn to two main things: layers of stickers on walls, mailboxes and especially traffic lights and the good looking old bricks of buildings. which only triggered another thing i kept an eye out for, painted billboards.

it's been days since i landed home from Vancouver. yep, it took me that long to edit all the pictures i took along the way and finally found the last little bit of time to blog before getting on some shop stuff.

it was great to hang out and reconnect with the brother let alone be in a place where the tap water tasted like bottled water ( not even trying to joke there), mega ancient mountains were in the sky everyday, community gardens were on nearly every other block and the bike lanes were car lane wide. 

there were lots of places that i got to see and discover but i'll save your toosh from any naps and just mention the ones that made me say wow. i'm so nice.

yarn bombing sunday

i've been up to a fair amount with the brother, just walking and biking around vancouver which i'll have to write about another time, but i just had to squeeze in a shorty post about this yarn bombing bonanza i'll be a part of tomorrow.

i'm intensely pumped for this! it'll be in the pretty run down hastings st. in vancouver so to see all kind of color sprinkled throughout the street will look lovely! trust that i'll be going shutter nutty that day, maybe even get my brother to do a wee bit of recording with his ace camera.

before i cam to vancouver i made up a ball of yarn for tagging to be about the size of a large dog's head.

after working on a few tags, the ball has dwindled down to the size of a small dog's head and i fear i may need more for tomorrow...maybe.
i'll have to make do with what i have i guess but a little birdie told me that i may get a bit of donated yarn which is always appreciated.
